Delonte West Brags about Being Broke

Richard Rowe-US PRESSWIRE

Delonte West hasn’t learned his lesson, and chances are he won’t anytime soon.

The Dallas Mavericks guard took to Twitter on Tuesday night to glamorize his up-and-down lifestyle during the live ESPN 30 for 30 broadcast of “Broke,” a documentary (directed by Billy Corben) that chronicles the lives of athletes who lost all of their money to a wide range of off-the-field activities.  And there was no lack of sharing in his own financial pitfalls through a slew of public tweets.

“Hell naw I ain’t gon be on no E60,” West tweeted  “…homie I’m 10yrs in…counted a ill in all 2dollars bills before I turned 21…I den been broke got back”

“Got broke again…got back again…and so the world continues to turn…hey u can’t take it wit cha…”’

“U think ima die and let another-joker spend all the money I saved..u must be crazy ..oh imma save some …spend more..u do d same shit.!”

We hear you loud and clear Delonte.  The 8-year veteran has earned around $15 million over his career, according to Basketball-Reference.  Though, it seems West watched the documentary in defiance, rather than a cautionary tale of what not to do with your money.

“I don’t no bout u…but I have no regretes…like JAY said…u was who u was before u get here…so shit I’m doing I always been doing..”

Interesting that he says he doesn’t have any regrets.  In 2011, West took to Twitter and admitted he was “broke” during the NBA lockout and applied for a job at Home Depot.  Can’t you just smell the irony.

“It’s official.. Pride 2 the side.. just filled out a application at Home Depot.. Lockout aint a game”

Oh Delonte, I hope you never change.  Here’s to the next few years of you standing in line at the unemployment office waiting for that weekly check to pay for your extravagant expenses.  We wish you the very best of luck.
