The Oakland Raiders will go on the road in Week 7 to face the division rival San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium. Oakland will be coming off their bye week while San Diego hopes to bounce back after a loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6.

Heading into the matchup with the Raiders, veteran quarterback Philip Rivers talked about second-year gunslinger Derek Carr. Rivers has been impressed with Carr’s progression and believes he’s a natural leader on the football field, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

“I don’t really know him, but I’ll give you my two cents,” Rivers said. “I felt like even as a rookie he had the demeanor, and I don’t know… He looks like a guy that can get guys to follow him and get guys to go and play. He looked like a guy that I go, ‘He’ll get it going.’ You know what I mean? He looks like a guy that can make a group around him better.”

The Denver Broncos are currently leading the way in the AFC West division with a flawless 6-0 record. The Raiders (2-3) and Chargers (2-4) sit behind Peyton Manning’s Broncos in the division standings with this game in Week 7 being crucial to their hopes of catching the division leaders.

Although the Raiders were expected to struggle heading into the season, Carr and company have exceeded expectations thus fat. Oakland could easily have two more wins on the year putting more pressure on the Broncos, but couldn’t seal the deal against Denver or Chicago Bears the last two games.

As of right now, the Chargers are favored to get the best of their division rivals in San Diego with at -4 point spread, via Sportsbook.ag. Oakland will put up a fight on the road and would be the safe bet at +4.
