Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott back at practice after accident

After a minor car accident caused him to miss the first week of OTA’s, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was back in action on Tuesday.

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reported that “The Cowboys running back returned to the practice field Tuesday as the team began its second week of organized team activities.”

On May 21, the car Elliott was in (he was the passenger) was involved in a minor accident. As a result, he missed three OTA’s. As a sign of the times, Elliott even faced some criticism for the accident. It seemed out of place given that Elliott was not driving and, as his mother pointed out, the car he was in was rear ended.

The Cowboys will certainly be relieved that the accident had no long-term impact. At the end of the day, a star running back like Elliott missing a week’s worth of OTA’s is a minor deal, assuming his health is not a concern.

Elliott took the NFL by storm in 2016, rushing for a league leading 1,631 yards while adding 15 touchdowns on the ground. As a result, he qualified for the Pro Bowl and was voted First Team All-Pro.

If Elliott and the rest of his teammates stay healthy, Dallas is on a short list of Super Bowl favorites in 2017.
