Cowboys visit Giants Looking for Season Sweep of NFC East Rivals

The Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants during Week 7 of the NFL regular season. This is the second and final meeting of the regular season between the two NFC East rivals.

Dallas beat New York in the season opener on a pass from Tony Romo to Jason Whitten with just seconds left on the clock, giving the Cowboys a 27-26 comeback win.

Things are much different since that first game. Dez Bryant the talented wide receiver fractured his foot in the season opener and is still sidelined. One week later Romo broke his clavicle bone and remains sidelined for the Cowboys.

Eli Manning the Giants quarterback has cooled of the past few weeks after a torrid start. Odell Beckham Jr. his favorite target has been nagged with a hamstring injury, but should be 100% for this game.

Matt Cassel will get the start at quarterback for Dallas replacing Brandon Weeden who lost each of the three games he started after Romo’s injury.

Not much can be expected of Cassel as he has yet to play a down for the Cowboys either in preseason or the regular season. The offensive options will be limited, and the Dallas rushing attack is not something he can fall back on.

If Dallas hopes to stay close and pull off an upset, they will have to force New York into turnovers and convert them into points.

On defense, the Giants must pressure Cassel into making mistakes in his first start and make him rush his plays. For both sides, turnovers will be key, as to which team comes out on top, especially if one or the other can convert them into touchdowns or at least field goals.

Matt Cassel’s debut with Dallas could be something he will not want to remember especially if his offensive line cannot open holes for the running attack and the defense can focus on just rushing the passer.

This game will have its ebbs and flows. Look for the Giants to go up early, but the Cowboys to make it a game by rallying late.

Prediction: Dallas might not be able to win the game outright, but they have a solid shot as 3-5-point dogs on the road in New York. With a solid defense and just some semblance of offense, the Cowboys should keep the final score close and cover in the process.
