Odell Beckham Jr. apologizes for comments, regrets nothing

Odell Beckham Jr. has apologized to his teammates for his candid remarks about the New York Giants’ coaching staff and Eli Manning in an ESPN interview, but he regrets nothing.

“I don’t regret anything,” Beckham told reporters. “I don’t regret anything that I said. If it took that for us to come together as a team like we did [Sunday]. I can take that every single time.”

In an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Beckham called his use within the offense into question and criticized Manning for not taking more downfield shots.

Beckham had his best game of the season Sunday following the controversy, hauling in eight passes for 131 yards and a touchdown while also throwing for a 57-yard score in a 33-31 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

He continued:

“Obviously, I love seeing the sunshine all the time. I love, you know, I love being in L.A, I just like that atmosphere. But this is where I’m at. I remember before games, I used to get that, I used to get butterflies, like good butterflies. I was anxious. And now when I step on the field, it’s something completely different. It’s not butterflies.”

The Giants didn’t draft a quarterback early to replace Manning as their long-term option in April and ultimately selected Saquon Barkley second overall. The Penn State running back is an early Rookie of the Year contender, totaling 582 yards and five touchdowns through five weeks.
