Jets Host Bills in Thursday Night AFC East Clash

Thursday Night Football kicks off week 9 of the NFL regular season when the Buffalo Bills visit the New York Jets in an AFC East showdown. The current line has Buffalo favored by 3 points with the over/under point total on 42.5.

Entering this game, Buffalo on the season is 5-2 straight up and 5-1-1 against the spread. On the road, the Bills are 1-2 SU and 2-1 ATS. New York on the season is 3-5 SU and 5-2-1 ATS. At home, the Jets are 2-2 SU and 4-0 ATS.

The Bills look to take a share of the AFC East lead with a win Thursday while giving the reeling Jets another loss putting them further into the division cellar.

Buffalo, which has had its best start to a season since 2008, is riding a two-game winning streak and sits a half game behind New England the first place team. The Jets have lost three straight following a 3-2 start.

Buffalo is No. 1 in the NFL in turnover margin at plus-14 and No. 3 in points allowed at 115. New York has committed 14 turnovers this season, including a muffed punt last week in the Jets 25-20 loss to Atlanta.

LeSean McCoy rushed for a season high 151 yards last Sunday in Buffalo’s convincing 34-14 rout of Oakland. In the season opener for the Bills, McCoy has 159 yards from scrimmage to help beat the Jets 21-12.

Buffalo traded for Kelvin Benjamin a talented wide receiver, who this season with Carolina has 32 receptions for 475 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

As losses start to pile up, Jets players are becoming frustrated and Matt Forte a veteran running back questioned offensive coordinator John Morton’s play calling against the Falcons.

Quarterback Josh McCown completed 26 of his 33 passes in a losing effort against Atlanta, and has 9 touchdown passes over the past 4 games.

Buffalo safety Micah Hyde is leading the NFL in interceptions with five.

The Jets secondary is maligned with injuries and the team traded for cornerback Rashard Robinson to fill in for Buster Skrine or Morris Claiborne as both are nursing injuries.

Buffalo is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games versus AFC East opponents.

New York is 4-0-1 ATS in its last 5 games versus AFC opponents.

Prediction: Jets are reeling, but will stop the bleeding. Lean here toward New York to cover.
