Jim Harbaugh: “Disrespectful” to Link Me to Colts Job

He’s been out of the NFL for less than one calendar year, but current Michigan Wolverines and former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has already started to hear rumblings regarding a potential return to the NFL next season. And he wants to put a stop to the rumours immediately.

Harbaugh told reporters it was “disrespectful” to the sport to link him to a potential NFL opening so soon after departing the professional leagues in favour of re-joining the college ranks.

Frankly, far too many people are jumping the gun on the availability of a head coaching position in the first place. Chuck Pagano of the Indianapolis Colts is believed to be on the hot seat, and while he wasn’t in favour of snapping the ball on the Worst Play Ever on Sunday night against the New England Patriots, the blame falls squarely on his shoulders regardless.

The Miami Dolphins, meanwhile, could be prime candidates given they will run out the season with an interim head coach at the helm, but it’s all a moot point.

Baseless speculation linking the vocal media magnet Harbaugh seems to be about as solid as these rumours are going to get.

Unfortunately, until some NFL purists get it through their heads that maybe Harbaugh prefers it at Michigan – where he has extensive control over the program and the roster, not to mention long-term faith from the powers that be – then these rumours are going to stick around until Jim dons a cap with a big, yellow M again in 2016.
