Louisiana Tech Extends Winning Streak, Defeats North Texas 85-67

Jacobi Boykins scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and Louisiana Tech won its seventh straight game 85-67 over North Texas on Thursday night.

Erik McCree added 17 points and seven rebounds for Louisiana Tech (21-8, 13-3), which has clinched a first round bye in the Conference USA Tournament which starts March 8. The Bulldogs are still 1½ games behind Middle Tennessee for first place with two games remaining.

A.J. Lawson led North Texas (8-19, 2-13) with 15 points and seven rebounds. The Mean Green shot just 37.9 percent and had 19 turnovers compared to only seven assists.

The score was tied at 32 at halftime before the Bulldogs ran away. A McCree layup with 16:03 left sparked a 10-0 run which gave Louisiana Tech a 53-41 lead. North Texas never got back within nine, and two Jy’lan Washington free throws with 5:01 pushed the Bulldogs’ lead to a game-high 25.
