NBA Rumors: Carlos Boozer Headed To Miami Heat In NBA Free Agency?

Back in 2008, veteran power forward Carlos Boozer was an NBA All-Star with the Utah Jazz and considered to be one of the best players in the league at his position. Two years later, Boozer was dealt to the Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade deal and he was never the same.

Boozer’s numbers have decline every year since leaving the Jazz and after a stints with the Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, the two-time All-Star may be on the move once again.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Boozer, an unrestricted free agent this summer, may end up signing with the Miami Heat:

As associate of veteran power forward Carlos Boozer said Boozer wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up with the Heat next season (almost assuredly at the minimum).

Boozer, who spends a lot of time in Miami, can still play as a backup (11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 49.9 percent from the field for the Lakers), but signing him makes sense only if Josh McRoberts or (less likely) Udonis Haslem is dealt.

Although Boozer is clearly not the same player he was in Utah, the veteran power forward can still put up decent numbers in a backup role.

At 33, the Duke product may be looking for one last chance to contend for a title before calling it a career. Although the Heat will likely be much improved in comparison to last season, Miami contending for a title might be a stretch.

Landing in Miami to play behind Chris Bosh seems like a good fit for the veteran, but it remains to be seen if the Heat brass would be interested in another aging veteran.
