NBA Rumors: Suns Setup Free-Agent Meetings With Blake Griffin, Paul Millsap

The Los Angeles Clippers appear to be in danger of losing not one but two superstar players this summer. Chris Paul has already been traded to the Houston Rockets, and Blake Griffin is now said to be flirting with the Phoenix Suns.

According to ArizonaSports.com, Griffin, along with fellow star free agent Paul Millsap, will meet with the Suns once free agency gets underway this weekend:

Free agent forwards Blake Griffin and Paul Millsap will meet with the Phoenix Suns after the NBA free agency moratorium period begins Saturday, reports John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM, Arizona’s Sports Station.

Griffin, who is coming off another season which ended with an injury, will have plenty of suitors in free agency with the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder said to be interested in the star forward. Millsap will also have his fair of suitors with the veteran forward seemingly starting with Phoenix.

It remains to be seen whether the Suns are planning on adding both veteran players or one or the other. Both players will come at a premium and would be welcome additions alongside promising young players like Devin Booker.

Phoenix has also been rumored to be involved in three-team trade scenarios with teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers. Superstar Paul George was part of the trade rumor which would’ve netted the Suns star point guard Kyrie Irving.

The rumored deal fell apart when LeBron James didn’t give Cavs owner Dan Gilbert a guarantee that he’d stay in Cleveland beyond next season. That trade could still come to fruition, but as of right now, Phoenix seems focused on free agency.
