Dwyane Wade is waiting for Bulls to start buyout process

The Chicago Bulls have clearly begun the rebuilding process. The team recently traded the face of the franchise in Jimmy Butler to go along with not bringing back Rajon Rondo. Now Dwyane Wade is left with an enormous contract and not much talent around him.

Apparently, Wade is ready to leave Chicago and is waiting for the Bulls brass to begin the process of buying him out of his contract, via Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.

After fellow guard Jimmy Butler was dealt to Minnesota in a draft-night trade, Wade — who had exercised his $23.8  million option for the 2017-18 season — made it known in his circles that he wanted a buyout. According to one source, however, he has not gone to the front office with that request.

Don’t expect that to change. According to the same source, Wade is hoping the Bulls approach him first — with a suitable monetary amount.

It seems inevitable that Wade will find a way out of Chicago. The real question is when that will happen and where he’ll land before next season. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat have all been mentioned as possible destinations.

The problem for Wade will be how much he’s willing to sacrifice of the $24 million he’s owed in order to part ways with the Bulls. If the Bulls drag their feet, Wade’s options around the league could be limited with the start of the NBA preseason being only a few weeks away.
