The Milwaukee Bucks are a team on the rise in the Eastern Conference. Giannis Antetokounmpo is looking a superstar in the making while also being a legitimate NBA MVP candidate this season with a few other budding young stars like Thon Maker.

Kevin Garnett, who is staying active in his post-playing days, recently talked about Maker and admitted the Bucks center reminds him of someone, via Jonathan Abrams of Bleacher Report.

“Thon Maker reminds me a lot of myself. He loves the game. He’s a young, exuberant athlete who has a lot of tools—he has touch; he has agility; he has really, good feet. He has a really good shot from three-point all the way up to 19 to 21 feet. He has very good bones, as we say.”

Maker is in his second season with the Bucks and has yet to reach his true potential in the NBA. Last season, the Bucks seven-footer played in 10 minutes a game averaging 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the floor and 37.8 percent from three-point territory.

Early Days

This season, however, Maker’s minutes have doubled while his production on the floor has dipped. He is averaging 4.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with a field-goal percentage of 37.5 percent and 32.3 from deep.

Obviously, at 20 years old, Maker has a lot of basketball ahead of him. Garnett’s guidance can only help the Bucks frontcourt player as he tries to take his game to the next level. The former NBA MVP clearly sees the potential for Maker to be a great player in this league, but it remains to be seen if he’ll get the level of Garnett’s expectations.
