NBA News: Larry Sanders Signs With Cleveland Cavaliers

A month after news surfaced of free agent center Larry Sanders working out for teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, the former Milwaukee Bucks up-and-comer has agreed to a deal with the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical:

Larry Sanders has reached agreement on a contract with the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers, completing his return to the NBA, league sources told The Vertical.

The Cavaliers are trying to bolster their roster before the playoff run to defend their title. Cleveland has been linked plenty of different players over the last month or so and were settled on point guard Deron Williams and center Andrew Bogut.

Williams was brought in to help with the ball-handling duties in the backcourt taking the playmaking responsibilities off the shoulders of superstars Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. So far, Williams has seemingly worked out well in Cleveland, but Bogut, however, was a failed experiment.

Bogut suffered a season-ending leg injury in the first minute of his time on the floor for the Cavaliers. Of course, this leaves another void to be filled in the frontcourt with Sanders being a viable replacement for the time being.

Before surprising everyone back in 2014 with his retirement, Sanders was a promising young big man with a potentially bright future with the Bucks. Sanders career appeared to be over until rumors surfaced of his interest return and now he’ll have an ideal opportunity in Cleveland with the playoffs around the corner.

As a result of Sanders being brought on, Bogut will be released freeing up a roster spot.
