The NBA trade deadline isn’t for another couple of months with teams around the league having until mid-February to wheel and deal. Although there’s still a lot of time left and the 2016-17 NBA season has only just started, the rumors are swirling with Rudy Gay rumored to be on the trading block once again.

According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Oklahoma City Thunder may have interest in acquiring Gay from the Sacramento Kings:

They remain interested in bigger wings, including Rudy Gay, sources say, in part because such a player would slide everyone down to their intended spots: Oladipo to the bench, and Andre Roberson back to defending shooting guards.

Despite consistent production throughout his NBA career, Gay has often been mentioned in trade rumors over the years. Even before the season there was talked of the Kings potentially talking with the Houston Rockets about a deal, but nothing came to fruition.

As for the Thunder, the team is likely looking for another solid contributor along with Russell Westbrook and Victor Oladipo. The Kings, however, may be looking to finally start over after a string of failed seasons and attempts to right the ship.

Along with Gay potentially being on the trading block, superstar DeMarcus Cousins may also be in the block. Cousins has been mentioned numerous times as a potential trade piece for the Kings, but owner Vivek Ranadivé has been reluctant to deal him.

With a new arena and head coach in Dave Joerger, Ranadive and general manager Vlade Divac may be looking to change their stance on trading Cousins. As of Friday, the Kings have lost three straight games and sit with a 4-8 record.

If things don’t turn around soon for Sacramento, the Kings brass may be ready to make a deal or two before the trade deadline.
