Last summer, the trade rumors started swirling around the NBA about the Sacramento Kings potentially shopping star center DeMarcus Cousins. The combination of head coach George Karl and Cousins was a toxic mess with the team desperately looking for a way to fix the situation in Sacramento.

Although trade talks with the Los Angeles Lakers became a hot topic of discussion before the 2015 NBA Draft, no deal came to fruition leading to a very awkward situation between Karl and Cousins to start the 2015-16 campaign.

With the end of the regular season drawing near, the Kings may be considering trading Cousins once again, According to David Aldridge of NBA.com, Cousins could be on the move this summer:

I’m sure Sacramento will look seriously at moving Cousins this summer.

During the rumored trade talks with the division rival Lakers, the Kings brass were said to have had an enormous asking price for their star center. Sacramento wanted the second overall pick (D’Angelo Russell), Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, and other draft considerations.

Despite being intrigued by the prospect of landing a young star player on the rise, Sacramento’s asking price was far too high for Los Angeles. This summer that asking price could change considerably and trade talks with the Lakers could resume with more reasonable expectations.

Along with the Lakers potentially being interested in continuing trade negotiations with the Kings, Sacramento will likely receive interest in Cousins from many other suitors. The Boston Celtics could be one of those teams with Danny Ainge and company looking for a star player to add to the roster this summer.
