Suns Rookie Josh Jackson Doesn’t Think He’ll Be Traded To Cavs For Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers and veteran New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony are rumored to be on their way out with one demanding a trade and the other seemingly have outstayed his welcome. Irving’s trade demand came as a surprise while Anthony’s future in New York has been up in the air for months.

At this point, both players will likely be playing elsewhere to start the 2017-18 NBA season. Irving has been linked to numerous teams while Anthony appears to be headed to the Houston Rockets if a deal comes to fruition.

One of Irving’s potential destinations is the Phoenix Suns with the team having the assets to get a deal done. Rookie Josh Jackson is one of the players that could be headed to Cleveland in a deal for Kyrie, but the Kansas product doesn’t see it happening as he said in an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio, transcription via ClutchPoints.

“I think if that was going to happen, it would’ve happened by now,” Jackson said. “A little talking to my agent, not really checking social media, because that’t not the way to go. People just say whatever. I handled it the same way I tried to handle Draft Night. Coming in, I didn’t know what was going to happen, I still don’t know what is going to happen. I’m going to make the most of whatever situation I’m presented with. If I’m traded to China, whatever, I’m gonna come out, I’m gonna be happy, just try to make the best of it.

“I was kind of in the dark a little bit. But I got a feeling that the trade wasn’t going to happen.”

There’s no telling how things will pan out with Irving in Cleveland. It doesn’t appear to be a relationship that can be mended as he seems determined to play for another team.

Last week, news leaked of Irving’s interest in playing for the Los Angeles Clippers. This is a bit ironic considering all the speculation surrounding LeBron James potential exit next year and rumored desire to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Whether Irving is ultimately traded to the Suns remains to be seen, but it would be safe to assume the Cavs would demand Jackson coming to Cleveland in return.
