The Dallas Cowboys are already in trouble at the quarterback position. Tony Romo’s backup, Kellen Moore, has gone down with a broken leg in training camp which leaves the team with a huge void behind their starter.

With Moore out, the team will now look at backup options around the league. One of those options is Nick Foles who recently requested to be released by the Los Angeles Rams. Apparently, the Cowboys are interested in the NFL journeyman, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder:

The Dallas Cowboys, after losing backup quarterback Kellen Moore to a right leg fracture, are considering Nick Foles as an option but are also discussing potential trades, a league source told ESPN on Wednesday.

Last year, the Cowboys’ season basically came to an end the second Romo went down with a broken collarbone. Romo’s absence was devastating for the Cowboys with the team simply unable to stay afloat in the NFC playoff race without their face of the franchise under center.

Without a viable backup and Romo always a health risk, the Cowboys must make a move following the Moore injury. Foles is an ideal addition for Dallas as he had succeeded in the NFC East when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles. Foles has struggled since leaving Philadelphia, but might have some success in the event Romo is unavailable.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Foles has a few options, including the Cowboys, and will make his decision soon:

In 11 games with the Rams last season, Foles threw for 2,052 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Foles’ best season came back in 2013 with the Eagles where he threw for 2,891 yards, 27 touchdowns, and only two interceptions in 13 games.
