Buccaneers Signing Pro Bowler T.J. Ward To One-Year Deal

In a surprising move, the Denver Broncos parted ways with one of their best defensive players recently. The team released three-time Pro Bowler T.J. Ward creating a made scramble among teams in the NFL looking for an upgrade in the secondary.

As expected, it didn’t take long for Ward to find a new home in the NFL. According to ESPN, the safety has landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers are signing three-time Pro Bowl safety T.J. Ward to a one-year deal worth $5 million, a source told ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Ironically enough, Ward will make more this year in Tampa Bay than he was scheduled to make in Denver, via ESPN.

Ward had been scheduled to make $4.5 million with the Denver Broncos in 2017 but was released Saturday after three seasons with the team.

Last season with the Broncos, Ward played in 14 games recording an interception and three forced fumbles. The Bucs, who could be a dangerous force to be reckoned with in the NFC this season, are looking to take the next step with Jamies Winston under center and an upgraded defense led by Gerald McCoy.

The NFC South could end up being one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL during the 2017 campaign. The Atlanta Falcons will look to avenge their epic Super Bowl collapse to the New England Patriots while Cam Newton’s Carolina Panthers attempt to bounce back and Adrian Peterson starts fresh with the New Orleans Saints.

Although the NFC South will be tough in 2017, Winston and company seem to have the talent to be a threat to win the division title and punch their ticket to the playoffs.
