Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has decided to return for 2018

Fortunately for the Cardinals, Larry Fitzgerald has put off walking away from the NFL for at least one more season. Fitzgerald said he was weighing his options and moves made by the team would help dictate his future.

On Thursday, Fitzgerald made his decision that he’ll be returning for the 2018 NFL season, according to Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.

Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has decided to continue his and play his 15th season in 2018.

Once Fitzgerald’s decision was made public, it sparked reactions from teammates and even senator and Arizona native, John McCain.

Playoffs

Needless to say, there’s a lot of excited Cardinals fans after Thursday. The team now has the goal of bringing in a new quarterback. There are quite a few options on the open market with Kirk Cousins being arguably the best out there.

The return of Fitzgerald will almost certainly make Arizona an intriguing destination in NFL free agency for Cousins and other quarterbacks like Case Keenum, Josh McCown, AJ McCarron, Teddy Bridgewater, and Sam Bradford to name a few.

As for the Cardinals odds to be a playoff contender next season, Fitzgerald helps, but it will be the quarterback acquisition that will tilt the scales one way or another.
