Green Bay Packers ‘hope’ Aaron Rodgers can return in December

The NFL season took a drastic turn for the Green Bay Packers last week when superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone. The injury was devastating to the team’s chances of competing in the NFC this season, but it may not be the end of Rodgers under center for 2017.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the Packers are hoping Rodgers will be back on the field in December.

Packers holding out hope that Aaron Rodgers could return for Dec. 17 at Carolina, per a source. Might be a long shot, but they’re hoping.

In the meantime, the Packers will look to backup Brett Hundley to shoulder the load at the quarterback position in Green Bay. Hundley didn’t fair too well when he was forced to replace the injured Rodgers as he threw three interceptions in relief resulting in a loss to the division rival Minnesota Vikings.

Fortunately for Green Bay, the storied NFL franchise still sits atop the NFC North division with a 4-2 record. The competition is stiff with the Vikings and Detroit Lions looming, but if Hundley can figure it out, the Packers may be able to stay afloat.

With Rodgers now on the injured reserve, the earliest the former NFL MVP can get back on the field for the Packers is against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15. If Green Bay is in the playoff hunt, Rodgers will likely get back under center, but if not, he’ll probably be shut down for the rest of the season.
