Things continue to get progressively worse for the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2016 NFL season. As if losing their sixth game of the season on Sunday to the Buffalo Bills wasn’t bad enough, the Bengals may have lost arguably their best player to a season-ending injury.

According to NFL.com, star wideout A.J. Green suffered a hamstring tear in the loss to Buffalo:

Following a 16-12 loss to the Buffalo Bills, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported wide receiver A.J. Green sustained a tear in his hamstring, with the simple prognosis being “not good.”

Green’s injury may be severe enough to keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the season, via NFL.com:

Green was carted off the field following an incomplete pass in the first quarter. Green will undergo an MRI early this week for more clarity on the injury, but Rapoport adds the fear is the injury will cause Green to miss the remainder of the season. He did not log a catch before exiting the field.

Hamstring injuries can be tricky for athletes, especially when a potential tear is involved. Green will more than likely be done for the season with the injury, but it may not be a devastating loss with Cincinnati no longer the playoff contender of old.

The Bengals are now 3-6-1 on the season with little to no hope of making the playoffs. Marvin Lewis’ squad has gone from one of the better teams in the AFC to a team that simply can’t figure things out and may be on the verge of some changes.
