Packers QB Aaron Rodgers ‘on track’ to practice on Saturday

The Green Bay Packers suffered a devastating blow to their 2017 NFL season when superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone. Rodgers’ injury was severe enough to undergo surgery and to place him on the injured reserve list.

Fortunately, the Packers may have finally gotten some good news with the perennial Pro Bowler potentially getting back on the practice field as early as Saturday, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Aaron Rodgers is on track to practice Saturday, 45 days after the surgery to repair his broken right collarbone.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback was actually eligible to return to practice on Friday, but coach Mike McCarthy uses Fridays before a Sunday game for recovery, treatment and meetings, and then puts the team through a short practice on Saturdays.

Green Bay’s season has taken the predictable nosedive since Rodgers underwent surgery. The team is now sitting at 5-6 on the year and have lost two straight coming into Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rodgers is not eligible to return to the gridiron for the Packers until Dec. 17 when they take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. At that point, the team may very well be out of playoff contention meaning there’s a chance Rodgers may not see the field again this season.

As for Sunday’s game against the Bucs, the Packers are currently favored at -2. Tampa Bay has also failed to live up to expectations this season due to injuries and the team struggling to play consistently well week in and week out.
