The Los Angeles Rams continue to struggle during the 2016 NFL season. The recently relocated Rams have had to adapt to their new surroundings and have probably done better than most, but the team still sits at 3-5 after the loss to the Carolina Panthers and all fans can think about is when will they see rookie quarterback Jared Goff under center.

As he has all season long, head coach Jeff Fisher wants to continue going with veteran Case Keenum over Goff. Fisher’s stance didn’t change after the loss to the Panthers as he likes Goff’s progress but isn’t ready to make him the starter, via ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez:

“I would submit that Case was not the reason we lost this game today,” Fisher said. “We just didn’t make plays in all three phases. We’ll circle the wagons with the coaches and look at the tape, but I’m pleased with the way Case has fought. As I say consistently, repeatedly, week after week, I’m pleased with Jared’s progress.”

In the loss to the Panthers on Sunday, Keenum threw for 296 yards while throwing one touchdown and one interception. Although Keenum’s numbers aren’t terrible, the veteran has been continually booed every time he throws an incomplete pass, gets sacked or makes a play the fans disagree with at Los Angeles Coliseum.

Regardless of Keenum’s play, if the Rams don’t win or aren’t in contention to win the game, he’ll continue to be public enemy No. 1 in Los Angeles with Goff sitting behind him. The waiting game will press on for the Rams with Fisher and company falling further and further down the NFC West standings.

In Week 10, the Rams will go on the road to face the New York Jets who are also a desperate team losing their hopes of a playoff berth.
