The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs this season and beat a very good team in the Kansas City Chiefs as the underdog in the divisional round. Unfortunately, the Steelers were manhandled by the eventual Super Bowl-bound New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game and now longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may be considering retirement.

During an appearance on a local radio station, 93-7 The Fan, Roethlisberger left many to wonder whether he has had enough and is ready to call it a career. Roethlisberger said the following about his immediate future, via CBS Pittsburgh:

“I’m going to take this offseason to evaluate, to consider all options,” Ben told us. “To consider health, and family and things like that and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season, if there’s going to be a next season.”

As currently constructed, the Steelers have one of the best offenses in the NFL with Roethlisberger under center. Roethlisberger has arguably one of the best running backs in the game coming out of the backfield in LeVeon Bell and quite possibly the league’s best wide receiver downfield in Antonio Brown.

With an offensive arsenal that may have no rival in the NFL, it makes one wonder if all the hits over the years have begun to take a toll on the veteran quarterback. Although Roethlisberger is as tough as they come at the quarterback position, the aches and pains of the grueling season may have caught up with him leaving the Steelers franchise with quite a dilemma if he does choose to retire during the NFL offseason.
