Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell says he hasn’t been ‘that special player yet’

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a disappointing loss to the lowly Chicago Bears. In what was possibly the biggest upset of Week 3, star running back Le’Veon Bell had arguably his best performance of the season thus far with 98 total yards and a rushing touchdown.

Although Bell was able to reach the end zone for the first time in three games, the two-time Pro Bowler claims he hasn’t played up to his potential as of yet, via Chris Adamski of Triblive.com.

“I haven’t been that special player yet,” he said. “I’ve been kind of just playing football. So I have to go out there and be the special player I can be.”

An argument could be made that the Steelers have the best offensive weapons in the NFL. They’ve got a two-time Super Bowl champion in Ben Roethlisberger under center, a superstar wideout in Antonio Brown and possibly the best back in the game in Bell.

Unfortunately, three games into the 2017 campaign, the team has been unable to put it together. The team’s full potential offensively has yet to be reached even though the team has already won two games out of the three played thus far.

In Week 4, the Steelers will hope to bounce back against the division rival Baltimore Ravens on the road. Although the Ravens haven’t exactly been playing at a high level this year, these AFC North divisional battles are always competitive meaning Pittsburgh could be in for a tough challenge.

As for Bell, the 25-year-old back will be going up against the 18th-best run defense in the NFL. Baltimore is 112.0 yards per game on the ground. If Bell were to have that breakout game rushing, it could be this week in Baltimore.
