Tony Romo On Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: ‘He’ll Be Able To Play Until He’s 45’

The Dallas Cowboys are heading into a different era. America’s Team will play their first season without Tony Romo in a couple of months with the team in good hands. Dak Prescott is the new face of the franchise with a potentially bright future ahead, but even though the Cowboys will be one of the top-tier teams in the NFC once again this year, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are still arguably the team to beat in the conference.

Romo’s football career appears to have come to an end with the 37-year-old heading to the broadcast booth for CBS while Rodgers is still going strong in Green Bay. In fact, Romo believes Rodgers will continue to dominate the game for the Packers for another decade or more, via Marc Sessler of NFL.com:

“I think Aaron is one of those guys who is uniquely talented. Special player in our league for a long time. He can go as long as he wants to,” Romo said during Wednesday’s edition of Total Access on NFL Network. “If he stays injury-free, he may be in his eyes on the back nine, but as long as he wants to continue to take hits, he’ll be able to play until he’s 45.”

At 33, Rodgers is still considered to be an elite quarterback in the NFL. Although Tom Brady, who turns 40 next month, is widely referred to as the best quarterback in the league and perhaps all-time, Rodgers isn’t far behind and may be able to follow in Brady’s footsteps in terms of longevity in the NFL.

As of right now, Rodgers and Brady sit atop odds for NFL MVP next season. Brady, as expected, is the favorite at +550 followed by Rodgers at +600 and Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders at +800, according to Bovada.lv.
