Onside Sports: Comprehensive New App Combines News, Betting and Social Media

Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 9.10.54 PMOnside Sports is a comprehensive new sports app, which the creators describe as “ESPN meets Facebook meets Fantasy Football.” Of course, since they don’t actually offer any fantasy football—that last part isn’t entirely accurate.

It’s more like “ESPN meets Facebook meets a casino,” because it allows you to make Vegas style bets on the sport of your choice and create fantasy betting leagues with your friends. Perfect for rubbing it in their faces when you win and they lose, but kind of a bummer when they do the same back to you when they win and you lose.

So you can build your social network around sports with like-minded friends, rather than having to jump back and forth between Facebook and Twitter and email, or anywhere else you connect with friends online. Onside Sports let’s you follow friends and experts, discuss match ups and chat during games.

The app also provides real-time alerts on scores, odds, line moves, injury updates and more. Which makes it a real one stop shop, saving users the time and hassle of jumping from site to site all weekend.

Just to give you a sense of what we’re talking about here, let’s take a look at some of the features:

Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 9.38.47 PMA real time tracker that provides up to the minute odds and scores, a game tracker with a full game summary, in addition to providing other valuable information like team records, batting stats and the game day forecast.

photo 1The Big Board is a list of all game action for a given day—it can be organized by game odds, team record, Vegas lines—which is where you make your picks. It also allows the user to track games early and bet through mid game.

It provides individual stats and even hooks you up with television broadcast information, in case you’re at a sports bar and a clueless bartender just stares blankly after you just asked him to put the game on.

We’re just two days away from the NFL’s regular season kickoff. Week 1 games, odds, kickoff times, injuries and individual game matchup stats are just some of what’s available on the surprisingly easy to navigate layout.

Onside Sports is currently available in the Apple App Store/iTunes for iPhone users—it will be available soon Google play for Android.

And there’s absolutely no reason not to download it right this second because it’s free—the best things in life always are.

Keep in mind this is only the beginning. The app developers are soliciting as much user feedback as possible not only to identify and rectify any early bugs, but also considering user requests for new features.

Any good suggestions will be given serious consideration. Terrible ones will likely be saved in a folder and laughed at during office happy hours—so only send them your A material.

Honestly, the only thing this sports-only community is missing is fantasy football.

Now you have you a solid user request. You’re welcome.
