The Green Bay Packers were dealt a potentially severe blow on Sunday with veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson suffering a knee injury in a preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Nelson may have torn ACL and as a result would miss the entire 2015 NFL season:

With Nelson more than likely out of the season with a torn ACL, the Packers will lose arguably their best offensive weapon outside of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Nelson is without a doubt one of the best receivers in the NFL and will be a costly loss for a team that’s considered a legitimate title contender heading into the 2015 NFL season.

Nelson and Randall Cobb are arguably the best one-two wide receiver punch in the league today. Green Bay will find it nearly impossible to replace the production of Nelson and his presence on the field which also makes Cobb dangerous.

Nelson is coming off his best season with the Packers finishing 13 touchdowns, 1,519 receiving yards and 98 receptions. Cobb wasn’t far off that kind of production with the veteran wideout catching 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns last year.

As of right now, the Packers are still favored to win the NFC with 13/5 odds, according to Sportsbook.ag. Rodgers is also near the top of the list of quarterbacks expected to finish the season with the most passing yards sitting only behind Andrew Luck (7/2) of the Indianapolis Colts at 5/1 odds.
