Packers May Have Lost Another WR With Randall Cobb Suffering Shoulder Injury

The Green Bay Packers were dealt a devastating blow to their offense last week. Pro Bowl wide receiver Jordy Nelson went down with a knee injury that ultimately turned out to be torn ACL. Nelson’s season came to an end in a meaningless NFL preseason game putting all the pressure and added attention in the receiving corps on Randall Cobb.

In the first game without Nelson drawing attention from the opposing defense, Cobb also went down with an injury against the Philadelphia Eagles. Cobb headed to the locker room with an apparent shoulder injury on Saturday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN:

The image of Randall Cobb walking to the locker room with a shoulder injury was about the worst imaginable scenario on Saturday for the Green Bay Packers, who six days earlier lost receiver Jordy Nelson to a season-ending knee injury.

With Nelson out for the season, the Packers already had a serious problem to deal with offensively. Fortunately, Green Bay has one of the best quarterbacks in the league under center in Aaron Rodgers, but potentially losing Cobb for an extended point of time along with Nelson may be too much to recover from as the Packers try to defend their NFC North division title.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport provided an update on Cobb’s status:

Green Bay currently has equal odds with the Seattle Seahawks to win the NFC this season at 16/5. Those odds may very well change if Cobb’s injury proves to be serious. The Packers also have equal odds with the Seahawks to win Super Bowl 50 at 13/2, according to Sportsbook.ag.
