Patriots Tied for AFC East Lead But By Far the Class of the Division

Just two weeks of the NFL regular season have been played but it is easy to see that the New England Patriots are far and away the class of the AFC East even if they are sharing first place with the New York Jets.

Yes, that is right, the New York Jets sit atop the AFC East with New England, as both are 2-0 to start the season. Both the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins are 1-1 after opening with wins but losing in Week 2.

The offense for New England is on fire at the moment. The Patriots cannot do anything wrong when it comes to offense. This likely will go on for the entire 2015 season if no major injuries hit the offensive ranks. Tom Brady is upset over what happened this summer and has taken it out on his first two opponents to the tune of 7 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions.

No defense has been able to stop either Rob Gronkowski or Julian Edelman as they are catching pass after pass. Gronkowski already has four touchdown receptions on the season. Edelman has just two touchdown receptions but has caught 22 passes in two games putting him on a pace to catch 176 for the season, which is a strong total for two seasons combined for most receivers.

The biggest worry for every team that plays the Patriots is the New England offensive line. The offensive line is healthy and can protect Brady better than he has been protected in a number of seasons.

New York has a strong defense this season. That was evident on Monday night in Week 2 when they held the always potent Indianapolis offense led by quarterback Andrew Luck to just 7 points in a 20-7 victory by the Jets.

The Jets however are still quite challenged on offense, which is why going through a full season, they will not reach the postseason.

Buffalo  remains a solid team and will battle for a playoff spot down the stretch. However, it is clear they remain light years away from taking the top spot in the division from the Patriots.

The Bills also have a very strong defense, except when they face a passer like Brady. Tyrod Taylor is the new quarterback for Buffalo, but as a rookie will make his mistakes along the way. His raw talent however will carry him to great things, but that might happen next year or the following.

Miami was projected to do great things this season. The Dolphins barely beat Washington in Week 1 and looked weak in their Week 2 loss to a lowly Jaguars team 23-20.

Their head coach might now last the season and either with their quarterback if his offensive line does not give him time to throw.
