Pirates And Cardinals In Final Series Game

The Pittsburgh Pirates have the second best record in the MLB and are second place in the NL Central behind the St. Louis Cardinals.

If the Pirates win tonight they will even their record against their division foes at five games apiece. They will also move just 2.5 games behind St. Louis.

Francisco Liriano was 4-1 against the Cards with a 1.97 ERA in 10 starts against St. Louis. However, back in May he allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings to allow St. Louis to pick up the 8-5 win. He will be looking for redemption as he has turned in eight quality starts over his last nien times on the mound.

Tim Cooney will make just his fTourth start as he fills in for an injured Jamie Garcia. In Conney’s first start he was less than impressive, allowing three runs in 2 1/3 innings. However, St. louis went on to win that game. He has taken a loss in his last two starts.

Tonight’s total is set at 7.  St. Louis leads baseball in the UNDER category with 60 percent of its games staying below totals. They also have the lowest team ERA (2.67). Pittsburgh has the second-lowest ERA (2.84) and has stayed UNDER in around 50 percent of its games.

The games starts at 8:05 p.m. ET on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
