Raiders Look to Remain Undefeated in Showdown with Redskins

The Oakland Raiders visit the nation’s capital to play the Washington Redskins on Sunday Night Football. The current line has Oakland favored by 3 points with the over/under point total on 54.5.

Entering this game, Oakland on the season is 2-0 straight up and against the spread. On the road, the Raiders are 1-0 SU and ATS. Washington on the season is 1-1 SU and ATS. At home, the Redskins are 0-1 SU and ATS.

Oakland has started strong this season looks to be a contender with New England for the AFC title. Quarterback Derek Carr leads a potent offense against the Redskins. Carr is 14-3 over his last 17 starts for the Raiders.

Washington opened with a 30-17 loss to Philadelphia at home, but rallied in its second game to beat the Los Angeles Rams 27-20.

Marshawn Lynch unretired to sign with Oakland and last week rushed for 45 yards with one touchdown in the Raiders 45-20 rout of the Jets. The Raiders rushed for 180 in the game.

Carr on the season has thrown 5 touchdown passes and no interceptions through two weeks. Amari Cooper has two straight 1,000 receiving seasons and teams up with Michael Crabtree to form one of the league’s best receiving corps.

Defensively, Khalil Mack is the leader and since the start of the 2015 season has 27 sacks which is tops in the league.

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for close to 5,000 yards in 2016, but has started this season slower, after losing wide receivers to free agency. His new favorite target is Terrelle Pryor a wide receiver who converted from quarterback.

Both Rob Kelley the starting running back and Jordan Reed the starting tight end are questionable for the game due to injuries for Washington.

Last week, the Redskins rushed for 229 yards and will look to establish the run to try to keep Carr and his offense off the field as much as possible.

The Redskins defense is allowing just 77 yards per game on the ground, but Philadelphia passed for over 300 yards against them in Week 1. Josh Norman the Redskins top corner has an injured shoulder and was limited in his workouts this week.

Oakland is 10-3 ATS over its last 13 games on the road.

Washington is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games versus a team with a record above .500.

Prediction: The Raiders could be looking ahead to their AFC North encounter next week with Denver, but they just have too much explosion offense talent to lose here. Go with Oakland.
