The drawn-out drama between reigning Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and the Denver Broncos will be coming to a culmination at some point soon.

The two sides have until Friday to come to an agreement on a long-term extension. If that doesn’t happen, Miller will either holdout or play the 2016 season under the dreaded franchise tag.

Things have not been going too swimmingly between the two sides in recent months with the total number of guaranteed cash being the sticking point.

Now, it appears that negotiations have brought on “significant progress” as it relates to a potential new deal before Friday’s deadline.

Rapoport went on to report the following.

“As things have gone quiet in the Von Miller negotiation, optimism has grown for all involved. It’s headed in the right direction quickly.”

While the overall value of the offer from Denver remains the same, it’s the guaranteed cash that could lead to a quick resolution here soon.

If the report is true, Denver has upped the total amount of cash it will guarantee the linebacker to $70-plus million.

If an extension is not agreed to by Friday’s deadline, Miller will either be forced to play under the $14.2 million franchise tag or holdout completely.

Needless to say, this is a rather big next several hours for the defending Super Bowl champs.
