B1G Preview: Michigan vs. Penn State Preview

The closest game in the odds out of the B1G this week is Michigan taking on Penn State.  When a game is close in the odds, not only does it make for an interesting game, but also makes for some interesting betting.

Michigan has won 18 home games, consecutively over three seasons.  However, when the Wolverines go on the road their record is a lot less impressive.  Over the last three years they are 7-6 when playing outside of their stadium.  The Wolverines are prepping to end this string of mediocre luck when playing outside of Michigan against Penn State.  In order, to prep for crowd noise,  quarterback Devin Gardner has been whispering the snap count during practice.  Will it be enough to for the Wolverines to conquer their away-game rut?

Michigan is not the most impressive undefeated team in the NCAA.  They have had some close calls against Akron and Connecticut.  Gardner has also been inconsistent this season.  He has put up nice passing numbers and TDs, with 14 on the season, but he also has eight interceptions to go along with it.  The game could come down to how Gardner performs.

Penstate

Penn State is not eligible for Bowl games due to the infamous scandal that rattled the school, but that is not stopping them from trying to win games.  They currently have a 3-2 overall record and would love to play spoiler to Michigan’s BCS Championship chances.

Penn State has also showed inconsistency issues.  One week they will lose, only to shut out their next opponents in a dominating victory.  However, controlling the high-scoring Michigan offense is going to prove to be Penn State’s biggest challenge yet.  It will also be up to true-freshmen quarterback Christian Hackenberg to keep the Michigan offense off the field, which is easier said than done.

Michigan State are the favorites to win this game with a -3 point spread.  The game takes place tomorrow at 5 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.
