Chiefs deal Alex Smith to the Redskins

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins, the Kansas City Star’s Terez A. Paylor reports.

The deal can’t be officially completed until March 14, according to the report.

NFL Network has confirmed the Star’s report.

Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter report that Washington is sending Kansas City a third-round pick in exchange for Cousins. ESPN’s Field Yates reports that cornerback Kendall Fuller is also being sent to Kansas City.

Schefter also reports that Washington has not had any contact with Cousins since the end of the season and that Smith and the Redskins have already agreed to a long-term deal.
